Reporting to the Area Superintendent, with direction from the Assistant Superintendent, Student Services and Wellness, the School Psychologist works collaboratively with the Student Services and Wellness support team, school principal, staff, parents/guardians, clinicians and outside agencies. This role supports the schools and communities in Area 1 of the Division to provide a comprehensive range of psychological services to Nursery to Grade 12 students including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, consultation and recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in School Psychology
Valid Manitoba School Psychologist Certificate (or eligibility for)
Successful completion of formal training in psycho-educational assessments
Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective organizational and computer skills; and the ability to meet multiple deadlines
Strong clinical skills and a broad knowledge base in child and adolescent development, cognitive processes, mental health, school and community systems, learning, and behaviour disorders
Experience working with students who have a broad range of exceptional needs
Commitment to working with Indigenous and First Nation communities and using culturally affirming and culturally safe practices
Training in Threat Assessment (VTRA), ASIST, Trauma-Informed Practices, and Cultural Safety is an asset
Valid Manitoba Driver's license
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will provide a broad range of school based psychological services including but not limited to:
Conducts and interprets psycho educational assessments of students related to learning, social-emotional and/or behavioural challenges
Works collaboratively with school support teams and parents/guardians to identify and develop support for student needs
Participates in School Support Team meetings to provide recommendations related to learning strategies, interventions and/or specialized programming
Prepares and submits written reports in accordance with Division timelines
Liaises with outside agencies to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to student planning and intervention
Forwards referrals to outside agencies in consultation with school personnel and/or the Student Services Team
Works with the Student Services Team to facilitate professional learning for school staff and parents
Provides support to school communities related to threat assessment (VTRA), crisis response and trauma-informed care
Maintains confidentiality in accordance with professional guidelines
Adheres to Frontier School Division policies and procedures

Frontier School Division meets the requirements of Manitoba Education for the Rural and Northern Clinician bursary. Successful candidates may be eligible to access support of up to $15,000.00.
