POSITION OVERVIEW

The Milliken Kingsley Plant is a world class air-jet weaving operation in Thomson, Georgia. We weave fabric for end products such as duct tape, medical tape, uniforms, military, home furnishings, and industrial products.

The Weaver makes sure weaving machines are running efficiently with minimal defects. The Weaver works on a rotating 8-hour shift.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Keep airjet weaving machines running by repairing end breaks, starting up mechanical failures, and creeling filling yarn packages.

* Complete two light inspections on each machine twice per shift.

* Identify defects and machine issues, document, and make sure issues are addressed.

* Perform weave machine DTM.

* Maintain equipment.

* Properly maintain loom control cards.

* Anything else as instructed by management.

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

* Able to correctly identify defects and machine issues, document, and make sure issues are addressed.

* Should be self-directed to the point of working with little to no supervision.

* Requires excellent airjet weaving skills and excellent job management skills.

* Requires regular and predictable attendance on assigned rotating shift schedule.

* Must be able to move around job for entire shift.

* Able to tie knots and draw ends to IE target times.

* Knowledge of weave room policies and procedures.

* Completing daily team maintenance (DTM) activities.

* Auditing safety items in department.

SKILLS - REQUIRED

* Ability to read and write and follow directions.

* Good communication skills.

MACHINES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

* Airjet weave machine (all types)

* Reed hook, leno hook, scissors, pouch, flashlight

* Draw graph

* Yarn, both dyed and greige fabric

* Packages of filling yarn

* PC Computer/BARCO/printer

* Slip resistant shoes, safety glasses, ear protection

* Steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, ear protection, LOTO equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION

* Standing:
Ability to stand while working. 90% of day

* Sitting:
Ability to sit down for hour long communications meeting. 5% of day

* Moving:
Must be able to move around a 316,000 sq. ft. weaving facility with concrete floors to get to supplies, equipment, and to perform elements of job. 90% of day

* Reaching/Lifting:
Must be able to reach anywhere from 8" to 24" into a filling case to grasp filling packages weighing between 8 and 25 pounds and place package on creel stand. Filling cases are 64 inches tall when full. Filling Yarn is lifted to creel height up to 59 inches. 20% of day

* Climbing:
Must be able to step up and down off weaving platform which are 10" and 5" off the ground to inspect machines and start them. 40% of day

* Pull/Reach:
Reach 12" up to 48" to grasp a warp yarn end. Guide reed hook through heddle and reed, then pull warp yarn end through. 10% to 25% of day depending on set.

* Bending/Stooping:
Must be able to bend and stoop to reach ends that have gone into tunnels or that have broken to repair stop. 5% of day

* Walking:
Ability to freely walk around and between running and stopped weaving machines on set to repair minor stops, patrol backs, and perform inspections. 90% of day

* Dexterity:
Ability to tie knots and draw ends in fine denier yarns to target times. 90% of day

* Visual Acuity:
Ability to identify both warp and filling defects in fabric with and without backlight during inspections and repairs. To see fine denier yarn to draw ends correctly through correct heddles and drop wires. To read and understand draw graphs, computer screen or any written instructions. 90% of day

* Work Environment:
Ability to work in cotton dust environment. Meet cotton pulmonary function requirements. Must be able to hear power equipment operating in work area. Ability to work in high noise production environment, wear approved ear protection and slip resistant shoes. This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This role regularly works around moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment. 100% of day

* Work Environment:
Ability to follow defined break schedule. Regular and predictable attendance on assigned rotating shift schedule. 100% of day
