Overview
The Building Engineer is responsible for the support in the design and implementation of the plant’s physical infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems. This role ensures that all facilities are functioning efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards to support uninterrupted plant operations as well as the definition of all operation standards, maintenance routines, and repairs.
Responsibilities- Support definition of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, etc.)
- Define and perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, etc.)
- Monitor and respond to facility-related service requests and emergencies
- Maintain building automation systems and ensure optimal energy usage
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized construction, repairs or upgrades
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and building codes
- Support plant operations by maintaining clean, safe, and functional work spaces
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment performance
- Assist in planning and executing facility improvement projects
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in building maintenance or engineering, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and respond to emergencies outside of regular hours
- OSHA 10/30 certification
- Experience with energy management systems or sustainability initiatives
