Are you a strategic financial leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-impact environments? We are seeking an Accounting Manager to lead a team responsible for complex financial oversight, budget management, forecasting, and fiscal operations supporting critical statewide healthcare programs. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands‑on leader who enjoys balancing big‑picture financial strategy with day‑to‑day operational management. Located in Topeka, KS, this hybrid role offers the flexibility of working remotely three days per week while still collaborating closely with leadership and key stakeholders onsite two days per week.

Ideal candidates will bring strong leadership capabilities, advanced financial analysis skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, mission‑driven environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of financial professionals responsible for budgeting, forecasting, fiscal reporting, and financial operations
  • Manage large-scale budgets and financial activities while monitoring expenditures, forecasting funding needs, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
  • Partner with leadership teams to provide financial analysis, operational recommendations, and support for strategic decision‑making
  • Coordinate cross‑functional financial activities, prepare executive‑level reporting, and support legislative and program‑related financial initiatives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Finance, Business, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience managing complex budgets, financial forecasting, financial analysis, or fiscal operations
  • Prior leadership or team management experience, including mentoring, coaching, or supervising professional staff
  • Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills with strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication abilities
