Berry Material Handling – Topeka is looking for an experienced forklift technician/mechanic with strong hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting experience. We provide in‑house, paid training. If you are a forklift technician looking for a change, apply today!
Field Service Mechanic position. We are seeking technicians in the Holton and Topeka, KS areas. This is not a shop position.
Responsibilities- Responsible for the effective repair of machine components in the shop, at high levels of quality.
- Recondition and repair equipment and components.
- Plan methods and sequence of performing repairs assigned.
- Pre‑order all parts and materials required to perform assigned repairs.
- Effect the repairs in a safe and effective manner.
- Ensure all repairs complete as assigned and the cosmetic appearance is up to standards.
- Maintain the work area in a clean and safe condition.
- Maintain good working records for time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases in repairs.
- Ensure all records are legible and in compliance with established methods.
- Report all record keeping daily from the field, even when not returning daily to the company.
- Maintain shop tools, equipment and vehicles.
- Maintain personal appearance in a professional and neat condition. Wear all personal protective equipment, as required, and urge others to do so.
- All communications with customers and co‑workers are conducted in a manner reflecting respect and integrity.
- Perform inspections required to determine cause of failure following established guidelines and identify the cause.
- Strong potential to develop good mechanical skills, good communication skills, and safe work habits.
- Electric forklift experience is a plus.
- Be able to work independent of direct supervision.
- Contribution to the spirit of teamwork and cooperation through the branch location, specifically with parts personnel and other service technicians.
- A technical school or equivalent experience in mechanical repairs is preferred, but not required.
- Valid driver's license; clean MVR.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate construction equipment.
- Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 50–100 pounds and/or frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 20–50 pounds and/or continuously lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 10–20 pounds.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, grasp or pull and lift objects. Occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance, kneel, stoop, crouch, and crawl.
