Description:

The Division of Urology in the Sprott Department of Surgery at the University Health Network (UHN), Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the University of Toronto is accepting applications for two full‑time faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor for Academic Urologic Oncologists, with a specific interest and demonstrated training and experience in open and robotic urologic oncology. The individuals we seek should have advanced training and skills in these areas through formal fellowship experience.

The effective date of these appointment will be July 1, 2026, but can be flexible depending on candidates.

The successful applicants will be managing patients with genitourinary malignancies in prostate, bladder and testicular cancer. Specifically, one candidate should display interest and training in radical cystectomy and RPLND (retroperitoneal lymph node dissection) while the other candidate should have proficiency in disease management of prostate cancer including robotic prostatectomy. One of the candidates will support the career transition of one of our existing senior urologic oncologists.

Both applicants will be considered active staff, covering specialty calls and general urology calls; educating urology trainees, medical students, and other learners; promoting a positive work culture and supportive training environment; prioritizing patient‑centred care; and striving for diversity within the community.

The successful candidates will be appointed as surgeon investigators and must demonstrate a strong record of teaching and research excellence, as appropriate. Applicants are required to hold a MD degree and certification in Urology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or a recognized equivalent certifying body. The individuals must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

All candidates must be proficient in English.

A secondary graduate degree is required at the masters (MSc) or doctoral level (PhD). Applicants should demonstrate a track record of commitment to excellence in urologic surgery training, clinical service, and scholarship, and seek a position that would involve a 50% time commitment to academic activities focused on research. These positions entail full‑time faculty appointments in the Department of Surgery at University of Toronto.

The candidates must be eligible for an appointment at the academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, and an appointment at the Princess Margaret Research Institute.

Primary Appointment

The primary appointment of the individuals will be in the Division of Urology at UHN, which offers an excellent opportunity for career development with an internationally recognized tradition of academic urology situated in a rich clinical and academic environment. The Division has a well‑established subspecialty practice in oncology, with a long‑standing history of multidisciplinary care in the genitourinary oncology program.

Remuneration

Remuneration will be derived from a variety of sources, primarily from, but not limited to, fee‑for‑service clinical billings, and commensurate with rank as a member of the Clinical Faculty, qualifications, and experience. Academic start‑up funds will be provided in alignment with the credentials and experience of the candidates. Based on the expected clinical workload, the annual compensation for this position is estimated to range between $300,000 to $400,000 CAD.

The specific amount within this range will depend on the individual's clinical workload, ensuring that the compensation reflects the responsibilities undertaken.

Application

Applications will be accepted until April 9th, 2026, or until the positions are filled. Interested individuals should send a copy of their letter of interest, curriculum vitae and names of three referees to:
