Job Description PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role is responsible for auditing electrical construction activities to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and approved project specifications.
The successful candidate will perform site inspections, verify electrical installations and workmanship, enforce safe work practices, and maintain accurate daily reports, including progress tracking, inspections, and documentation.
This position requires hands-on field experience in electrical inspection, strong knowledge of Electrical Utility Safety Rules (EUSR), internal procedures, the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and applicable standards and guidelines (, MTO Book 7, MCR), along with the ability to independently assess and enforce compliance on active construction sites.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Review issued electrical construction drawings and project documentation prior to construction start to understand scope, risks, and key requirementsParticipate in pre-construction and progress meetingsConduct site visits and perform regular inspections to monitor electrical construction activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable regulationsAssess site conditions, identify hazards, and confirm that contractors are following approved electrical safety procedures and regulatory requirementsAudit contractor practices to ensure alignment with Electrical Utility Safety Rules (EUSR), internal standards, and applicable legislationMaintain detailed daily inspection records, including site activities, measurements, marked-up drawings, and photographic evidenceMaintain project information and execution reports, drawings, and ensure that project documents are current and validTrack construction progress and document any deviations from design due to field conditions, scope changes, or unforeseen issuesVerify installation quality and confirm electrical materials and equipment comply with approved bill of materials and project standardsReview and validate contractor submissions, including progress quantities, monthly billing, and change ordersIdentify, document, and report electrical safety and quality non-compliance issues (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actionsSupport incident reporting and participate in investigations when requiredProvide timely project status updates to internal teams and clientsPerform final inspections and walkdowns, prepare deficiency lists, and confirm readiness for energization/serviceReview and validate As-Built electrical drawings and project documentation in accordance with applicable standards and requirementsSupport project close-out activities, including final reporting, documentation review, and lessons learnedParticipate in post-construction reviews and share lessons learnedOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION:
Powerline Technician or underground equivalent shall have Lineman Ontario Provincial Classification or Journeyperson Certificate of completion issued by MEA or MTCU or Power Line Technician Red Seal Certification.EXPERIENCE:
over 7 years of relevant experience in hydro network construction site;REQUIRED SKILLS
Power Line Technician, or Underground EquivalentUtility and infrastructure experience.Working knowledge of the Electrical Utility Safety Rules and industry safe work practices.Knowledge of Toronto Hydro Rule Book, THESL Distribution Standards would be an asset.Familiar working knowledge with occupational health & safety act (OHSA), construction standards and specifications in Ontario and City of Toronto…
