Overview
Develop and implement IBM z/OS systems infrastructure and platform performance and capacity strategies to support business growth. Work with middleware and data collection tools to optimize mainframe application performance, ensuring reliable, secure, and cost-effective computing and communications.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement z/OS infrastructure, performance, and capacity strategies.
- Ensure reliable and secure computing and communications capabilities to run business software.
- Perform capacity workload modeling and availability analysis.
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve mainframe application performance bottlenecks and issues.
- Collaborate with teams to improve application design and code for better performance.
- Provide input into planning and implementation of operational programs.
- Design system capacity (bandwidth, disk space, storage, CPU) for high availability and performance.
- Maintain and improve overall system performance, monitor production, and meet SLAs and quality metrics.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics for mainframe applications and middleware.
- Generate performance reports using tools such as ITBI and Intelli Magic, and make data‑driven recommendations.
- Identify and define process or system improvement opportunities and recommend emerging technologies.
- Promote technical development, mentor employees, and build communities of practice across technology.
- Document performance issues and solutions for future reference.
- 4–6 years of IT industry experience, 1–3 years with application performance focus.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
- Experience with IBM z/OS, JCL, CICS, Db2, VSAM, MQ, Web Sphere, and z/OS Connect.
- Knowledge of mainframe tools and utilities, including RMFMON, Omegamon, Netview, zWIN, Dynatrace, IZPCA, Intelli Magic, ITBI.
- Working experience with MXG and SQL is a plus.
- Proficiency in application performance tuning and optimization.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, collaboration, and influence skills.
- Ability to work independently and quickly learn new skills.
- Data‑driven decision‑making capability.
Salary range: $75,900.00 – $ (Salaried). Compensation will vary based on location, experience, education, and qualifications.
