OverviewThe Security and Loss Prevention Expert (SLP Expert) is a key leadership position within the Amazon Security and Loss Prevention (S&LP) team. This role leads the effort to provide end‑to‑end S&LP services across all assigned operational business units and reports to the SLP Cluster Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Identify vulnerabilities and conduct root‑cause analysis using data to define mitigating actions, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Actively monitor and report outcomes for systems and tools that generate data indicating site/region opportunities.
- Manage confidential investigations and prepare prompt reports of theft, fraud, and workplace violence/critical incidents.
- Utilize continuous improvement to drive process enhancements and increase efficiency.
- Serve as the department’s liaison and security/crisis management subject‑matter expert, keeping site leadership informed on department key issues, strategies, and performance.
- Identify, promote and implement security best practices, partnering with internal customers to evaluate current and future security needs, processes, and initiatives, and facilitate incident response planning.
- Travel domestically and regionally up to 50% of the time when applicable.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 49 pounds, standing/walking up to 12 hours, working in variable temperatures, and climbing stairs as needed.
- Work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as the role covers 24/7 operations.
Conducts physical security audits, investigates policy violations, and analyzes data reports to identify vulnerabilities. Collaborates with stakeholders, manages outreach to external security providers, and delivers loss‑prevention education and awareness programs.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 4+ years of relevant professional or military experience.
- 2+ years of security service, loss prevention, asset protection, investigations, or law enforcement experience.
- Other experience: 2+ years of Amazon (Blue Badge/FTE) experience may be advantageous.
- Experience implementing metric‑based strategies utilizing continuous improvement concepts.
- Experience in physical security systems maintenance/implementation and coordinating scope of work with security vendors.
- 2+ years in risk management, audit, data analytics, inventory control, quality assurance, retail, warehouse, distribution center services, delivery service, or supply chain.
- Investigative interviewing experience or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Protection Professional, Loss Prevention Certified, Certified Forensic Interviewer).
- Workplace incident mitigation or de‑escalation and business continuity planning experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel pivot tables and chart/graphic development.
The base salary range for this position is 49,500.00 – 86,700.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs) and will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
