Electrical Field Engineer

Pay Rate: $55.17 – $62.07 / hour on W2 only

Job Type: Contract 12 months with possible extensions or C2H

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Field Construction / Commissioning Engineer to support building system startups, commissioning, and overall construction coordination activities within an industrial environment. This role requires strong technical expertise in electrical systems, safety compliance, and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.

• Facilitate startup and commissioning of electrical building systems.
• Review and provide technical input on equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering designs, specifications, and RFIs.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, including lockout/tagout, arc flash safety, and control of hazardous energy.
• Interpret and apply relevant building codes and industry standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, etc.).
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for equipment testing, delivery, installation, commissioning, and final handover.
• Plan and support shutdown and weekend work in coordination with stakeholders.
• Conduct ongoing field inspections to monitor work progress, quality, and compliance with specifications and codes.
• Support construction administration activities such as scheduling, progress tracking, coordination meetings, and utility outage planning.
• Oversee contractor performance to ensure adherence to project schedules, milestones, and quality expectations.
• Prepare field reports and provide updates on project status to project management teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of technical standards and project specifications.
• Communicate technical information effectively across teams and stakeholders.
• Manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.

• 5–10 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in construction management.
• Strong experience in electrical system design and implementation.
• Background in industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Solid understanding of electrical safety standards and building codes.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project).

• Experience with tools such as Bluebeam and AutoCAD.
• Multi-disciplinary knowledge across electrical and civil systems.
• Experience with substation or mechanical equipment startup and commissioning.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or similar operational frameworks.
