Greystar has an immediate opening for an experienced Maintenance Technician! Our team members are high performers that care about customer service and exceed expectations. The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in our success.

Position

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, supporting nine locations throughout the Portland Metro area to Salem. Occasional on‑call availability is necessary. A 40% rent discount is available.

What Your Day Might Look Like
  • Part of a team, having fun while providing excellent customer service
  • Complete resident service requests and repairs in a timely manner (including appliance repairs)
  • Prepare apartments for new move‑ins by completing the “make‑ready” process
  • Maintain cleanliness of exterior buildings and parking areas
  • Assist with vendor management and other duties
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections for equipment
What We Are Looking For
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment
  • Previous experience with painting, entry‑level carpentry, appliance repair, and basic plumbing
  • High level of professionalism in both manner and dress
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to read, write and communicate effectively
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
Essential Responsibilities
  • Complete assigned work orders generated from resident requests for service and preventative maintenance on the property by diagnosing defects and making repairs in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety standards, and code requirements.
  • Complete the “make‑ready” process to prepare vacant apartment homes for leasing and new move‑ins by completing the pre‑move‑out inspection, creating a “punch” list, scheduling vendors and contractors as needed, obtaining supplies, completing maintenance tasks, and inspecting finished work.
  • Follow procedures for accessing and obtaining materials, supplies, equipment, and tools; track inventory; return unused items; and notify the maintenance supervisor about re‑ordering needs.
  • Complete documentation and paperwork in a timely, accurate, and complete fashion so that service requests can be appropriately documented and tracked.
  • Assist in maintaining grounds, common areas, and amenities by picking up trash and debris, pressure‑washing breezeways and pool areas, performing general cleaning, and painting curbs and signage as needed.
  • Support cost‑cutting and expense control programs by fixing rather than replacing parts whenever possible, avoiding wasteful use of materials and supplies, and practicing correct use of tools and equipment.
Other Responsibilities
  • Comply with Greystar’s safety and risk‑management policies by attending routine safety meetings, completing required OSHA and other safety training, and reporting accidents and incidents promptly and accurately.
  • Periodically inspect work performed by contractors, vendors, and other service providers to verify that work, materials and services meet quality standards, scope and specifications as required.
Service Technician Responsibilities
  • Assist in conducting routine and periodic property inspections to identify safety and risk management concerns, keep the property in good repair, and communicate physical needs to management.
Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, climb ladders, reach, carry objects, and crawl in confined areas for extended periods.
  • Work inside and outside in all weather conditions.
  • Push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights up to twenty‑five (25) pounds independently and up to fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
  • Travel may be required to assist other properties as needed.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including call time during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
