JOB PURPOSE:
The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) specializes in caring for newborns, infants, toddlers, adolescents, and young adults. The Pediatric Nurse Practitioners focus is on well-childcare and the prevention or management of common pediatric acute illnesses and chronic conditions.
Delivers high-quality care for the diagnosis and treatment of disease, promotion of health and prevention of disease, and the physical and emotional support of patients and families. The PNP provides care to new and established patients in accordance with the licensure and the highest standards of quality and integrity.
The completion of these duties, tasks, or assignments requires a high level of independent judgment and decision-making in the execution of the scope or authority and resposibility for the position. The PNP must be able to successfully perform all essential functions, duties, tasks, assignments, and responsibilities assigned within the El Rio Health organization at a location assigned by management. The incumbent in this position works with general direction and review and has discretion and independent judgment authority with respect to matters of significance for the assigned area.
The primary goal of the El Rio Health Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) is to support El Rios Mission of providing comprehensive, quality health care that is affordable and accessible to all who may have healthcare needs, by successfully performing the primary essential functions.
Responsibilities
- Specializes in caring for newborns, infants, toddlers, adolescents, and young adults.
- Focuses on well-childcare and the prevention or management of common pediatric acute illnesses and chronic conditions.
- Evaluates pediatric patients for symptoms and checks vital signs.
- Completes diagnostic tests.
- Administers medications or minor procedures.
- Educates family members on treatment options.
- May perform as a Lactation Consultant performing formal lactations consultation.
- Delivers healthcare in a professional manner that strives to meet or exceed those criteria set forth by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and The Joint Commission (TJC), as well as the internal standards that seek continuous quality improvements.
