The CADD Instructor is responsible for instructing students in various courses in a classroom/laboratory setting. This is a part‑time temporary position.

Essential Functions
  • Provide Instruction in Assigned Subject Area

    Provide instruction to students according to the objectives of each course assigned. These courses include:
    Design Drafting Concepts, Basic Computer Aided Drafting, 3‑D Solid Modeling, Architectural Design with Revit, Principles & Materials of Construction, Architectural Planning, Building Structures, Building Systems, Structural Steel Design with SDS/2, Commercial Construction, Topographic/Civil Drafting, Professional Practice‑Architectural, Construction for Americans with Disabilities, Cooperative Education I & II – Drafting.

  • Instruct Students in Use/Application of Appropriate Computer Software

    Instruct students and monitor their progress on applications of computer software such as spreadsheet, word processing, and multimedia. Current software used includes Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, 3‑D Studio Viz, Revit, SDS/2, Powerpoint and other software as may be required in the future.

  • Provide for Student Evaluation and Record‑Keeping

    Prepare and administer evaluation instruments and maintain accurate student records on attendance, achievement, and progress.

  • Remain Current in Events and Developments Related to Subject Areas

    Increase and improve personal teaching and subject knowledge through supplemental sources such as in‑service activities, conferences, workshops, technical updates, company tours, and personal self‑study.

  • Participate in Division and College Meetings and Committees

    Attend division/college staff meetings and serve on committees.

  • Serve as an Academic Advisor for Students

    Assist students in selecting and registering for courses; advise students on their academic progress, courses needed for graduation, and division/college policies and procedures; act as the first line of communication between students and the college staff.

  • Develop/Revise Course Curriculum and Educational Material

    Develop and/or revise course objectives, content, descriptions, and instructional strategies on approved college curriculum. Review, evaluate and recommend textbooks for course use.

  • Function as a Member of the Drafting Program Team

    Interact with colleagues, students, staff, and supervisors in a manner that projects a positive image of the program and the college, promoting instructional services such as recruitment, placement, and orientation.

  • Perform Other Functions Related to Teaching Assignments

    Keep the classroom clean, professional and maintain security of all college equipment and materials.

  • Individualized Development Plan (New Instructors)

    Develop an individualized development plan in cooperation with the Vice President of Instruction. Work with an immediate supervisor to develop an annual professional development and improvement plan.

  • Promote/Support Diversity

    Promote and support the college’s diversity goals; promote/support affirmative action, EEO, equity and diversity programs.

Marginal Functions
  • Operate and utilize appropriate audio‑visual equipment, including overhead projector, television/video recordings, Smartboards, and multimedia computer equipment.
  • Provide information and data that will assist in the preparation of budgets, course schedules, assessment, annual program review, and other required reports.
  • Serve as a substitute instructor within the program when needed as assigned by the Program Chair or Division Dean.
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with current construction processes used by industry.
  • Work experience equal to at least two years in any area related to the teaching assignment.
  • Be able to relate to colleagues, staff, students, and supervisors in a positive and cooperative manner.
  • Be able to apply and demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and incorporate a variety of teaching strategies and techniques in the classroom.
