Experience Required Essential

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience teaching Music or equivalent subjects
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on curriculum development and/or assessment
• Experience of teaching students ranging from KG - Grade 12
• Experience of implementing a range of 21st century teaching and learning strategies
• Experience and excellent understanding of the creation and implementation of music curricula and a desire to enhance and improve the education system
• Student-centered approach to teaching with an understanding of Arab youth
• An understanding of how to adapt teaching style to cater to ESL learners
• Sound understanding of how to localise curriculum to suit the Emirati context
• Sound understanding of technologies that support educational development
Desirable
• Experience working with ESL learners
• Experience working in GGC countries

CONTEXT
Ministry of Education is leading educational change across the UAE. The Ministry of Education is implementing a
new Fine Arts Curriculum as part of its progressive educational change programme. The curriculum will be delivered
in all boys and girls schools from KG to Grade 12 across the UAE. The The Fine Arts Curriculum will contribute to the
UAE’s vision of preparing students for a better tomorrow by equipping them with the necessary skills for a
successful future and effectively supporting them to manage their own educational and personal growth and
development.

Job Statement
The Ministry of Education is looking for an outstanding Fine Arts Curriculum Specialist. You will be responsible for
writing and developing an engaging, innovative and globally competitive curriculum with associated products. You
will lead creative teaching strategies and practices to ensure growth and positive outcomes for all students and
teachers. You will be working alongside Arabic Specialists to ensure the creation and delivery of a bilingual
curriculum.
Essential Functions
Principal duties and responsibilities: The role will encompass all the following:
Responsibilities:
• Coordination and creation of curriculum design, development and review
• Proof and review teaching books and curriculum associated products
• Ensure internal and external validation of all curriculum products and delivery as required
• Coordinate with Ministry quality assurance and assessment procedures
• Ensure any organizational requirements and standards are met
• Liaise with internal departments and external organisations as required
• Promote innovation and creative teaching and learning strategies
• Attend and deliver training as required to ensure implementation of the curriculum
• Send out academic instruction to a team of Fine Arts Teachers
• Carry out monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the curriculum
• Respond to data relating to student performance
• Create and support provision of relevant additional learning support
• Provide an example of academic and professional excellence
• Manage workload & staff (where required) to deliver to agreed targets
• Maintain and provide accurate and timely information in relation to curriculum design and implementation
• Leadership of teaching, learning and assessment strategies
• Take appropriate responsibility for learner safeguarding and the promotion of equality and diversity
• Ensure effective communication across teams and departments
• Develop extra-curricular activities to engage students in fine arts
• Attend meetings as required
• Utilise your strong planning and organizational skills
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and passion for the role
• Create a positive environment that encourages learning
• Commit to innovation in teaching and learning strategies
• Be confident and professional in appearance and conduct yourself with integrity, ensuring cultural
appropriateness

Position Requirements
Bachelor,   Less than 1 Year work experience
Education Requirements Essential

• Master’s Degree in Music or equivalent
• PGCE in Music / Equivalent certificate
OR
• M.Ed with focus on Music
• Teaching qualification (e.g. DTLLS, PGCE, Cert. Ed) or equivalent
• IELTS 7 Academic for non-native English speakers. Bilingual Arabic - English
speakers preferred
Desirable
• TEFL/CELTA/DELTA qualification
Required Language Skills:
  • English - Very good
