About this jobWe are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager with estimating expertise to oversee the commercial, operational, and financial performance of our roadmaking projects. This role combines contract management, project estimation, and team leadership. The successful candidate will manage a team of 10 roadmaking operatives, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining high quality and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Contract Management:
Lead the preparation and negotiation of contracts, review contracts, identify risks and compliance, serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding contract performance, variations, and commercial issues, monitor contract progress, certify completion stages, changes, and extensions of time. - Project Estimation:
Analyse project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to generate pricing, support bid submissions with pricing breakdowns, methodologies and risk assessments, contribute to commercial strategy and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies.
- Lead a team of 10 roadmaking operatives, ensuring efficient daily operations, plan workforce, resources, equipment and materials to meet project requirements, coordinate with site supervisors and foremen to ensure smooth execution of works.
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager, Estimator or similar role in the roadmaking, highways or civil engineering sector.
- Experience supervising operational teams in a construction environment.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, commercial and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to health, safety and environmental best practices.
- SMSTS/SSSTS, CSCS or equivalent safety certifications (desirable).
- Full UK driving licence.
