OverviewThe Department of Performing Arts at Clemson University seeks highly qualified candidates to fill course instruction needs in one of three disciplines: theatre, music, or audio technology. Candidates should be prepared to teach courses in their emphasis area. This part‑time and/or temporary full‑time opportunity to teach one or more courses is available as needed, with courses offered in spring, summer, and/or fall terms and in one or more modalities and locations.
The start date varies according to departmental teaching needs. Areas of content expertise for teaching at the undergraduate level include:
- Theatre Appreciation
- Directing
- Set Design
- Music Appreciation
- Vocal or Instrument Lessons
- Audio Technology
- Lighting Design
The Performing Arts degree at Clemson University is a nationally distinctive degree that integrates technology, performance, production, theory, and history into a united program of study preparing students for careers in many aspects of the arts, including theatre, music, and audio technology. The Department occupies the Robert Howell Brooks Center—an 87,000‑square‑foot building with classrooms, rehearsal halls, offices, and supporting spaces.
QualificationsMinimum of a Master’s Degree in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications- Teaching experience at the secondary or college level
- Evidence of research and/or creative work and familiarity with contemporary professional practices in the performing arts, and expertise in content aligned with a departmental program area; recent professional acting, directing, audio technology, musical instruction, or performance experience
- Desire to stay current and relevant in area of practice
- Commitment to and interest in diverse student recruitment
