Therapies Service - Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy


Static Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist - Full time Band 5

Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Are you a physiotherapist keen to work in a first class teaching hospital? Are you committed to the provision of evidence informed practice and the development of motivated junior staff? Do you want to work in an environment with world class facilities with a focus on manual and exercise therapy; education of undergraduate and postgraduate students; research and clinical audit?


An opportunity has arisen for a full-time static Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist to join the Therapies team within Barts Health Trust. The post holders will be a qualified Physiotherapist, with at least 6 months experience within the NHS. They should be registered with the HCPC and have completed core student placements in the acute and chronic settings. These should ideally be inclusive of a musculoskeletal rotation and an Orthopaedic inpatient rotation. They should have baseline knowledge of musculoskeletal physiotherapy principles and have experience of treating a variety of peripheral and spinal patients. They must have an understanding of clinical governance, professional issues and NHS developments.


The full time post holder will join the Barts Health musculoskeletal team based at Whipps Cross Hospital and its community sites. They will effectively run, treat and manage patients within class settings providing exercise and education on long term management of conditions including AS exercise class. They will have the opportunity to work alongside different specialties including, Orthopaedic, Rheumatology and Community Pain clinics. They will have supervisory responsibility for a Band 3/4 Rehabilitation Assistants and work experience students, providing appraisals, participate in teaching and clinical support with managing demanding caseloads. They will also have roles linked to the Band 6 line managers that will facilitate their managerial and leadership qualities, for example GP liaison, education and Musculoskeletal Audit champion. We have an excellent evidence based in-service training program covering each individual joint with theoretical knowledge, practical skills and clinical implementation. The MSK Therapies team also has a strong Band 8 strategic and clinical leadership team, who support the MSK physiotherapy team to deliver the best possible patient care.
