Duties and Responsibilities
Practices within the limits of the profession and hospital policies and procedures, adheres to department standards, understands the legal implications and is accountable for his/her actions.
Responsible for the prevention, investigation, monitoring, and reporting of the spread of disease in AFHSR.
Performs surveillance of Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) on assigned units according to approved CDC/APIC definitions and criteria.
Responsible for the epidemiological investigation of HAI across the hospital.
Identifies problems and issues relation to infection control and consults with the Infection Control Coordinator and Infection Control Lead.
Initiates precautions and isolation measures for transmissible diseases and discontinues precautions as indicated. Makes recommendations to nursing and medical staff on appropriate isolation precautions to be used for known or suspected infectious disease.
Participates in new employee orientation in coordination with the concerned department regarding infection control practices and procedures.
Develops and participates in educational programs for the prevention and control of infections in assigned units and maintains records of presentations.
Serves as member of the Infection Control Committee and other Hospital committees as assigned.
Participates in the development and review of Infection Control Policies and Procedures Guidelines.
Participates in Hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities.
Responsible for education of medical staff regarding infection control protocol policy.
Use scientific research to recommend, implement and monitor policies and procedures for the hospital.
Implements disease outbreak, intervention, and procedure in affected areas of the hospital and notifies the appropriate authorities in the event of an outbreak.
Identifies controls and investigates outbreaks in collaboration with the IC team and head of the department of the affected area.
Part of development & revision of infection control policies.
Acts as a role model to colleagues.
Imposes implementation of hospital policies and procedures in the hospital areas.
Respect the patient rights according to the hospital policy
Participate in all quality improvement and patient safety activities within his/her department.
To comply with all the infection control guidelines within his/her department.
To perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
Position Requirements
Bachelor,   3 to 4 Years work experience
Effective communication (English)/ Computer literacy required.
Epidemiology/ Nursing/ Medical Technology
