Our Housekeeping Supervisor role:We’re looking for a Housekeeping Supervisor to join our welcoming housekeeping team.
Housekeeping is at the heart of our guest experience at The Machrie. Together, our team ensures that every bedroom, suite, lodge and shared space is immaculately prepared, clean and inviting, so that our guests feel at home from the moment they arrive.
You’ll take pride in upholding our exceptional standards, from perfectly made beds to immaculate bathrooms, and support our Housekeeping Manager in creating a comfortable and welcoming experience for every guest.

As our Housekeeping Supervisor you’ll be:- Taking ownership of cleaning schedules across designated areas, ensuring exceptional standards are maintained throughout our hotel.
- Working alongside a committed and supportive team to deliver a welcoming and memorable experience for every guest.
- Supporting the servicing of guest bedrooms to the required standards and timescales, whilst confidently managing your own room allocation when needed.
- Carrying out regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, linen stores and service cupboards, resolving issues and maintaining presentation standards.
- Overseeing laundry operations and helping manage stock levels, ensuring supplies, linen, products and equipment are organised, well maintained and readily available.
- Supporting our Head Housekeeper with the day‑to‑day running of the department, including ordering supplies and maintaining operational efficiency.
- Leading by example by promoting company standards, policies and procedures while fostering a positive culture of teamwork, accountability and professionalism.
- Training, coaching and supporting team members and helping new starters settle in, enabling team to perform at their best.
- Championing health, safety and compliance by completing daily checks, following key control procedures, maintaining Risk Proof records and ensuring the team understands all relevant regulations and emergency procedures.
- A passion for delivering great guest experiences and maintaining high standards.
- Previous housekeeping experience in a hotel or similar environment.
- Excellent organisation and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced setting.
- A proactive approach, able to work independently while contributing positively as part of a team.
- A keen eye for detail and pride in a job well done.
- Confidence in supporting and guiding colleagues, including task delegation.
- A genuine care for colleagues, guests and the environment around you.
- Access to your own transport (essential).
- Previous island living experience.
- Hobbies or interests in the following areas: the outdoors, writing, natural history, marine science, animal science, photography (or equivalent).
On Islay, The Mach season island living. Due to the hotel’s remote location, you will require a valid driving licence and access to a personal vehicle. We offer also team accommodation within same‑sex residences (where possible).
