We help people get out of poverty, assist  the disabled to enter the mainstream community, house the homeless, help the jobless get employment, help refugees and immigrants adjust to American society, help people avoid financial scams and budget money wisely.
AmeriCorps is an exciting program whereby you help others, prepare for a career in human services, and make a difference! You can help disabled youth and people in need to have a better life. AmeriCorps members are paid volunteers who help to improve our community and nation. AmeriCorps provides an opportunity to learn new skills, gain valuable work experience, help others, and serve your nation.

Applicant Requirements:

1. Must be able to begin in 2020; 2. Must be at least 18 years old; 3. Must have a minimum of a High School diploma or GED/HSED; 4. Must be willing to serve for up to 10-12 months and complete the full term of service; 5. Full (35-40 hours per week) and part time positions available.

Required Skills : Compassion, Empathy, Counseling , Writing/Editing , Communications , General Skills , Computers/Technology , Youth Development , Team Work , Social Services , Public Speaking , Community Organization Members are placed at the Utica Housing Authority sites, Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees, and Upstate Cerebral Palsy.

Additional Information / Benefits
Benefits:   Full-time members receive a living allowance of $13,992 (about $540 before taxes every two weeks) for 12 months; Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $6,195 before taxes upon successful completion of 1700 hours, student loan forbearance, · Health insurance, child care benefits, and work-related travel reimbursement, if eligible.
