We are seeking an Intermediate Hydrogeologist to be based in our Vancouver office, but other remote locations such as Nelson, Saskatoon, or Quebec City may be considered for the appropriate candidate.
Responsibilities
The candidate will work within the hydrogeology group as part of larger interdisciplinary teams consisting of mining, geochemistry, water management, and engineering staff.
Key responsibilities include:
Field work planning, implementation, and drill supervision.
Installation and operation of deep groundwater instrumentation (>250m).
Data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation for aquifer testing and conceptual modeling.
Development of inputs to water and load balance models, estimates of pit or underground inflows, and remedial options analysis.
Preparation of reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.
Interaction with junior to principal-level team members and management of tasks and junior staff.
Qualifications
A minimum of an undergraduate degree (master's or post-baccalaureate work preferred) in geology, geographical/civil engineering, or physical geography with emphasis on hydrogeology, hydrology, environmental engineering, or geotechnical disciplines.
At least five years of experience, preferably in one or more of the disciplines listed above; mining industry experience (operational, exploration, or assessment) is a benefit.
Self‑motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Capability to work on site independently with long hours in the field and variable weather conditions.
Experience with installation and operation of deep (>250m) groundwater instrumentation.
Willingness to travel locally, nationally, and possibly internationally.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Professional registration or eligibility to obtain it.
Benefits
The estimated base pay range for this position is $85,000 to $120,000. The salary offered will be commensurate with relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.
