Job Description & How to Apply Below
Controller  Are you a finance professional who loves the logic of a clean ledger but also enjoys the challenge of building something better?
This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit on the sidelines. Reporting directly to the CFOO, you will act as a "player-coach," balancing high-level financial strategy with the day-to-day tactical execution needed to support operations in both  Canada and the United States (Michigan) . If you take pride in accuracy, ownership, and mentoring a dedicated team, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities  Financial Stewardship & Reporting    Own the Close:  Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with a focus on precision and timeliness.
Compliance:  Maintain financial statements in accordance with  ASPE/GAAP  and ensure all internal controls are robust and effective.
The Details:  Manage the general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and fixed assets while resolving complex transaction-level hurdles.
Strategic Cash & Treasury Management    Forecasting:  Direct cash flow forecasting and manage working capital to ensure liquidity.
Partnerships:  Manage banking relationships and ensure debt compliance, providing leadership with clear visibility into short- and long-term positions.
Process Innovation & Special Projects    Modernization:  Lead system enhancements and integrations (leveraging technology to move away from "the way we've always done it").
Cross-Functional Support:  Act as a key finance partner for strategic initiatives across the organization.
Leadership & Mentorship    Team Growth:  Lead and develop a small, capable accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Experience  We are looking for a candidate who is extremely detail-oriented and thrives on problem-solving. You should be as comfortable explaining financial variances to leadership as you are reconciling a balance sheet.

Education:

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certification:
CPA Designation is a must.

Experience:

5+ years of progressive financial management experience.
Technical Savvy:  Proficiency in MS Office; experience with  Microsoft Dynamics Business Central  is a significant advantage.
Regional Knowledge:  Strong understanding of  ASPE  financial reporting standards.
Mindset:  A "continuous improvement" DNA, you naturally look for ways to make workflows faster and more accurate.

Why This Role?

This is a pivotal time to join a cross-border operation that values stability and growth. You will have the autonomy to shape the accounting function and the satisfaction of seeing your improvements directly impact the company’s success.
Ready to lead the numbers?  If you are an organized, deadline-driven professional ready for a dual-market challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
