As a Radiological Technologist you will- Produce diagnostic radiographs and conduct various diagnostic procedures, either independently or in collaboration with the Radiologist and/or other physician(s).
- Apply best practice radiation safety principles to protect patients, staff and the general public and complete required documentation and administrative tasks.
- Monitor the patient during the procedures, including equipment performance, and maintain cleanliness of the examination room.
- Maintain and advance your own clinical competence by participating on committees/teams and approved research projects, as assigned.
- Successful completion of a recognized Medical Radiography program.
- Successful completion of the CAMRT certification exam in Radiological Technology and/or certification with the Order of Technologists in Medical Imaging, Radio‑Oncology and Medical Electrophysiology of Quebec (OTIMROEPMQ) in Radio diagnosis.
- Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists.
- Broad knowledge of applicable CAMRT standards of practice and clinical practice guidelines.
- Broad knowledge of radiological technology theory and practices within a patient/family‑centred model of care.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic radiographic and medical imaging equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based practice related to the designated modality.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
- Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
- Knowledge of PACS, Radiology Information Systems and electronic health records (e.g., digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval).
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to interact with patients, families, co‑workers, physicians, other health care staff and external agencies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, and to resolve conflict issues.
- Ability to establish plans and prioritize workloads in collaboration with others, and knowledge of CPR techniques.
- Ability to operate related equipment, including applicable software applications.
- General knowledge of Trauma‑Informed Practice, Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths‑based care.
- Ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety and provide culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
An earlier start date may be arranged if operationally feasible.
The hours of work, including days off and work area, may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provisions of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
As per Ministry of Health policy, all health‑care workers in publicly‑funded facilities must report past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records allows for offering missing vaccines, and facilitates appropriate actions in case of future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. New hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health will provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
