Senior Electrical Engineer
Job Summary
Lead electrical design on high-profile building projects.
Major Responsibilities- Senior technical resource; serve as technical advisor for the team.
- Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's expertise areas.
- Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work by others.
- Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and serve as interface between Electrical Engineering and other engineering services, facilitating departmental relations and coordinated projects.
- Coordinate electrical systems with other disciplines and prepare Project Agreement Technical requirements to meet project requirements.
- Supervise and review design of electrical normal, UPS and emergency power systems.
- Supervise and review Power System Analysis, Arc Flash Evaluations, Short Circuit Analysis, Equipment Evaluation and Protective Device Coordination using SKM; analyze 208 V, 600 V, 4.16 kV, 13.8 kV and 27.6 kV, 44 kV systems per OESC, OBC, NEC, NFPA and IEEE standards.
- Perform site survey for information gathering and panel inventory at facilities for study purposes.
- Produce quality electrical engineering plans, ensuring compliance with department, project, company, utility and regional electrical entity, meeting industry requirements and standards; plans include power, lighting, grounding, and fire alarm systems.
- Develop estimates of technical efforts for projects and provide support for construction cost estimates.
- Provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
- Supervise and mentor electrical team members.
- Review and approve work completed by other electrical team members, including quality control review of design calculations and drawings.
- Prepare technical specification sections.
- Knowledge of TGS, LEED and Net Zero standards is an asset.
- Proficiency with REVIT, AUTOCAD, Microstation, ETAP and SKM software is an asset.
Minimum Requirements
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering and six (6) + years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario in good standing.
- Ideally, an individual with fifteen (15+) years of electrical design experience; experience with transportation projects for clients such as TTC, VIA, Mx, CN and other regional or municipal transit agencies is an asset.
- Relocation is not available for this position.
- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
The expected range is CAD 105,000 – 150,000 per year.
