Job Overview
We are a young mechanical company of skilled Red Seal mechanical tradesmen with lots of trade stoke and ample opportunities to make a positive impact in our local construction communities. We are seeking a skilled HVAC‑R journeyman with valuable expertise in residential and light commercial construction to join our awesome HVAC team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems including refrigeration and forced air equipment, gas and hydronic equipment, system controls and wiring, and other HVAC related items.
We offer an opportunity to work on diverse construction projects in the North and Central Okanagan ranging from luxury custom homes to full‑scale renovation projects to light commercial tenant improvements. This position also offers an opportunity to help our company grow in HVAC service and maintenance work using your valuable knowledge and experience.
Duties- Assist our HVAC team with new construction HVAC installs
- Refrigerant line set installations, equipment placement, control wiring, refrigeration commissioning, gas work, appliance venting, and other HVAC related tasks
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to ensure comprehensive and efficient work
- Perform routine maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment
- Repair appliances and other mechanical components within residential and light commercial HVAC systems
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, building codes, and industry best practices
- Participate in team building, collaboration, and potential training of apprentices (as we grow)
- Valid Journeyman certification in HVAC‑R (or equivalent licensing)
- Young, self‑motivated, and physically fit
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality above all else
- Strong mechanical knowledge from experience in refrigeration and HVAC work
- Ability and willingness to learn with new construction related technologies and with personal/professional development
- Sincere customer care and strong communication skills
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and fix complex mechanical issues
- Natural leadership tendencies to work independently or as part of a team in various construction environments
- Relevant abilities and certifications with hydronic heating, sheet metal ductwork, or gas fitting would be a valuable asset but they are not required for this role
