Overview
Reynolds is seeking a Campus Law Enforcement Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role involves enforcing state laws and campus regulations, responding to routine and emergency situations, and ensuring the protection of campus property. The officer serves as a visible presence on campus, promoting safety and providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities- Patrol campus grounds and operate police vehicles and equipment.
- Respond to alarms and write incident reports.
- Assist with investigations and oversee part‑time security staff as needed.
- Implement and enforce security protocols.
- Respond appropriately in both routine and emergency situations.
- Maintain current certification or obtain certification as a campus police officer as mandated by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
- Operate a state‑issued vehicle.
- Carry a firearm in accordance with federal law and all internal policies.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned and to assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Qualifications- Considerable knowledge of statute enforcement, safety and security concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
- Working knowledge of customer service practices and principles.
- Skilled in operating police vehicles, communication equipment, alarm systems, and other law‑enforcement equipment.
- Ability to lead and direct full‑time and part‑time security staff as needed.
- Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage a diverse population.
- Ability to gather information, write accurate and factual reports, and explain or enforce policies, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to develop and implement security policies and procedures.
- Must hold current certification or have the ability to obtain certification as a campus police officer as mandated by the DCJS.
- Proficient in handling firearms and operating an emergency motor vehicle.
- First Aid, AED, and CPR training certification.
- Basic computer operating skills preferred.
- Position is open until filled; the selected candidate must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation including credit, education, and employment inquiries, reference checks, fingerprint criminal history, DMV records, an employment physical, and drug testing.
- Selected candidates are required to carry a firearm; federal law prohibits individuals convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor domestic‑violence crime from carrying a firearm. All previous law‑enforcement positions held must have ended with an honorable standing.
