Corrections Officer: River North Correctional Center

Job Duties

$3,000 Sign-On Bonus Available to Eligible New Hires! Corrections officers contribute to the public safety mission by ensuring effective and safe custody and control, and compliance with policy and procedure. Officers provide security over adult inmates, supervise daily activities, observe and record behavior and movement to ensure safe and secure confinement.

• High School Diploma or a GED equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend workplace policies and procedures and prepare workplace reports and documentation.
• Ability to lawfully possess a firearm in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Ability to complete all pre-employment requirements, including medical screening, background check and drug testing (including screening for marijuana use).

Stable employment history, military or related criminal justice experience.

Preferred individuals at least 21 years old (a waiver may be provided for those 18-20). Bilingual and Multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
