Job Duties
  • Manage daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and inmates in an institutional setting.
  • Supervise and monitor staff on assigned shift; ensure a safe, secure, and productive environment.
  • Lead and counsel staff; coordinate work schedules and assign duty rosters.
  • Contribute to administration of performance management system for staff.
  • Conduct ongoing inspections to maintain security, sanitation, and good order of the institution.
  • Interact with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and public to maintain orderly and secure operations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license.
  • Current Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Certification.
  • Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement; experience supervising corrections staff.
  • Experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work, including time‑keeping and duty roster management.
  • Experience reviewing and evaluating records and reports and applying post orders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practices and procedures governing security and/or administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
  • Working knowledge of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.
Additional Considerations
  • LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience and/or training.
  • Experience with evidence‑based practices.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook.
