Essential Duties

Henrico County Department of Social Services is hiring a Casework Supervisor to lead our permanency programs team. You will oversee foster care, adoptions, Fostering Futures, kinship navigation, and Title IV-e services - the full continuum of support for children and families working toward permanency. Your leadership doesn't just manage caseloads - it shapes outcomes for Henrico's most vulnerable residents, one family at a time.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Supervise and develop staff across foster care, adoptions, and Fostering Futures - including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management
  • Review case documentation for accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local policy
  • Assign caseloads and review and approve service plans, case assessments, and required reports
  • Represent the department in court, family partnership meetings, VEMATs, FAPT, and child and family team meetings
  • Oversee grant activities tied to Title IV-e, Respite, Independent Living, and Education and Training Vouchers
  • Track program data to evaluate outcomes and identify gaps in service delivery
  • Provide on-call supervisory coverage for child welfare and APS staff
  • Contribute to department leadership, strategic planning, and best practice initiatives
  • Support foster parent recruitment and community engagement events as needed
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Solid grounding in social work practice - including family systems, substance abuse, mental health, and child welfare
  • Experience supervising staff in a child welfare or human services setting
  • Working knowledge of foster care, adoption, KINGAP, adoption subsidy, and kinship programs
  • A trauma-informed lens - and the ability to bring that perspective to both clients and staff
  • Strong instincts for staff development, documentation compliance, and service quality
