Responsibilities
Participate in team teaching of nursing theory and clinical practice in a one (1) year certificate program. Plan, supervise, and evaluate student skills, simulation on campus and clinical experience in assigned health care facilities. Responsible for didactic and clinical instruction. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, participating in the mentor‑mentee program, promoting and supporting extra‑curricular activities, participating in professional development, and working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem‑solving skills.
Faculty shall provide reasonable and uniform standards based upon sound educational principles that allow the opportunity for flexibility, creativity, and innovation. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned, which could include non‑traditional venues such as evening, weekend, dual credit, and/or online courses, and must be able to travel to clinical facilities and be flexible to teach as needed. This position reports to the Program Director for Vocational Nursing and exercises no supervision.
Employee may not exceed 19.5 hours per week.

Working ConditionsPhysical effort-restricted:
Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs.), some walking, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis. Work environment – minimal hazard/exposure: standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
Part‑time retirement. Participation in Medicare Part A, but not Social Security (FICA).
Minimum Qualification RequirementsEducation: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university. Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility.
Experience: Three years of current clinical experience/active employment in various nursing fields or have advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education, and/or nursing administration.
Special Requirement: Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Nurse in Texas.
