Overview
Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (L&D) | Kamuela, HI | Start 06/08/2026 | 16 weeks | $2,181–$2,300 per week | 36 guaranteed hours | Rotating shift | Short-term acute care hospital setting.
The traveler will provide direct patient care in a family birthing unit caring for laboring patients, postpartum mother–baby dyads, and stabilization of neonates until transport. The unit supports low-risk obstetrics with capability to stabilize higher-risk cases for transfer, collaborating with physicians and midwives to ensure safe, evidence-based care.

Short-term acute care hospital – Labor & Delivery unit
- Provide direct patient care to laboring patients and postpartum mother–baby dyads, including monitoring maternal and fetal status.
- Manage labor progression, administer prescribed medications and IV therapies, and maintain appropriate fetal monitoring as ordered.
- Assist during labor and delivery and support neonatal stabilization until appropriate transport is arranged.
- Deliver postpartum care, patient education, and discharge planning for mothers and newborns; document assessments and care in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the care team; adhere to infection control, patient safety, and Baby-Friendly practices.
- Respond to clinical changes and emergent situations, ensuring timely escalation and appropriate patient prioritization.
- Hawaii RN license, current and unencumbered.
- BLS/HCP, ACLS; NRP and C-EFM required to apply; C-EFM certification from NCC required for this assignment.
- BSN degree preferred; graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- 2+ years of full-time Labor & Delivery RN experience prior to travel contracts; mother/baby couplet care and newborn stabilization experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a family birthing unit with capability to stabilize high-risk cases until transport.
- All certifications/licensure must be valid throughout the initial contract.
- No RTO (time off) will be approved for the initial contract.
- Compliance requirements must be uploaded 10+ days before contract start.
