Support Staff – Secondary School Additional Needs Provision

We are seeking committed, resilient and compassionate Support Staff to join a specialist provision supporting secondary‑aged students with additional needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives within a nurturing and structured educational environment.

The role is full‑time and long‑term with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

You will work closely with students who require additional support to access learning, regulate emotions, develop social skills and build independence across the school day. Support will take place both within classrooms and within a dedicated specialist setting.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting students in lessons to remain engaged and focused
  • Encouraging independence, resilience and positive behaviour
  • Assisting with emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Building strong, professional relationships with students
  • Supporting interventions, social activities and structured routines
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff
  • Providing calm and consistent support during challenging moments
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Patient, proactive and nurturing
  • Confident supporting children and young people with additional needs
  • Strong role models with excellent communication skills
  • Able to remain calm under pressure
  • Passionate about inclusion and student development
  • Comfortable working as part of a team in a busy secondary school environment

Previous experience working within education, SEND, care, youth work or behaviour support is desirable but not essential.
