Interim HR Business Partner

Our client is a large not for profit organisation based in Wakefield, with an inclusive, values‑driven culture. The HR team plays a key role in supporting operational and corporate services. You'll be on‑site 1-2 days per week, with the rest worked flexibly.

Job Description

In this role, you will:

• Provide specialist HR guidance on complex people issues, including disciplinary, grievance, safeguarding, performance, attendance and organisational change.
• Lead on casework, ensuring decisions are risk‑assessed, compliant and aligned with organisational values.
• Coach and influence leaders, developing management capability across all levels.
• Build constructive relationships with trade union partners and support consultation processes.
• Lead on policy development and people initiatives, contributing to wider cultural improvements.
• Line manage HR Advisors and ER Assistants within your portfolio, ensuring high quality service delivery.
• Analyse people data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for proactive interventions.
• Represent HR in formal meetings, panels, and external forums where required.

The Successful Applicant

We're looking for an experienced HR Business Partner who:

• Is immediately available/can start beg.

• Has extensive experience managing complex ER cases in a large organisation.
• Can coach, influence and support senior leaders with confidence.
• Brings strong employment law knowledge and a solutions‑focused approach.
• Has ideally worked within unionised envrionments e.g. NHS or education sectors (desirable).
• Enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment with sensitive and often challenging casework.
• Can build trusted relationships and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
