HDR is expanding its national Trenchless Services team. The Trenchless EIT/ Specialist reports to the Trenchless Services Engineering Lead and supports design and field services for trenchless projects.
Responsibilities- Perform desktop route selection and evaluate feasibility of trenchless design and construction.
- Carry out site reconnaissance and develop subsurface investigation plans.
- Analyze surface and subsurface conditions to determine feasibility and preferred construction techniques.
- Interface with discipline leads and production staff to support trenchless design deliverables.
- Communicate with clients regarding project status and technical discussions.
- Estimate materials, installation loading, and stress for trenchless pipeline installations.
- Assess use of trenchless technologies and participate in method selection.
- Calculate carrier pipe and coating specifications.
- Define workspace requirements for equipment at trenchless crossing locations.
- Prepare or review project documentation, bid packages, drawings, design reports, and data sets.
- Build and utilize software models for trenchless pipeline design.
- Develop permit application documents and drawings.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and governing codes.
- Prepare field engineering and as‑built documents.
- Propose updates to department standards and share lessons learned.
- Oversee or observe construction activities, monitoring progress and providing recommendations.
- Travel extensively to field assignments as needed.
- Undergo a preemployment drug test.
- Engineering in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain, with C‑EIT designation and desire to pursue PE credentials.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, or related discipline.
- At least two years of professional experience, preferably with Horizontal Directional Drilling, microtunneling, and/or Direct Pipe.
- Design and construction knowledge of trenchless methods.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
- Team‑oriented, accountable, and reliable contributor.
- Strong writing and computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines independently.
- Self‑motivated and able to work autonomously while maintaining regular communication.
- Experience working on projects in remote environments.
- Bachelor’s degree

Target salary range: $75,000 – $85,000 (based on experience, education, and location).
Primary location:
Atlanta, GA. Other locations available across the United States.
