- Manage engineering, reliability, maintenance and facilities operations in a facility containing multiple, complex operations with at least 200 employees with a focus on meeting KPI targets for safety, quality, production, maintenance, efficiency and service.
- Manage and promote practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with applicable laws and regulations, meet company quality standards, and serve customer needs.
- Take ownership and demonstrate leadership necessary to achieve goals related to Safety, Quality, Service, Efficiency and Employee Development.
- Monitor KPIs, anticipate and correct trends that could compromise achievement of targets.
- Lead by example to promote and encourage employees to commit to safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Provide management of engineering services for the installation, maintenance and improvement of machinery, equipment and facilities.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose, implement and document maintenance plans and performance metrics, including failure analysis and corrective action, equipment capacities and risks, and other engineering solutions.
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive and autonomous maintenance plans.
- Investigate root cause for repetitive damage and failure, and assess costs that do not align with maintenance plans.
- Evaluate, recommend and acquire tools for reliability and maintenance improvement, including process analysis software and other resources.
- Lead training to ensure maintenance technicians have needed resources for SOPs, work instructions, specialty tools, and updated preventive maintenance (PM) kits.
- Set priorities for maintenance backlog and oversee long-range and short-range maintenance schedules.
- Evaluate, install and test new equipment.
- Ensure maintenance standards comply with statutory health and safety regulations.
- Direct teams to assess progress, analyze problems, facilitate solutions, identify resources and adjust plans as needed.
- Aim to achieve objectives at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements.
- Identify and recommend short- and long-term business strategies and understand and drive industry best practices.
- Develop and convey broad, advanced conceptual ideas and persuade diverse stakeholders, including senior manufacturing leadership.
- Establish and communicate department goals.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on applicable machinery, equipment and facility for cross-functional projects.
- Support and align with management expectations and company values.
- Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of staff.
- Responsible for employee development, discipline, performance appraisals and policy administration.
- Review staff levels to ensure adequacy and allocate resources to meet objectives.
- Make recommendations regarding staffing decisions.
- Participate in the interview process with new candidates.
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field and seven (7) years of engineering, facilities and/or machinery maintenance experience.
- Seven (7) years of progressive supervisory experience.
- Two (2) years specific experience performing maintenance and equipment reliability.
- Strong interpersonal skills; accessible and approachable.
- Demonstrated project management experience by successfully managing and completing a large, complex engineering project.
- Advanced knowledge of practical engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques and equipment to design and production.
- Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles for production of precision plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
- Understanding of reliability tools and strategies including FMEA, RCM and RCA.
- Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and methods to maximize manufacturing and distribution efficiency.
- Knowledge of business and management principles related to maintenance planning, resource allocation, cost analysis and budgeting, people management and leadership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to persuade and influence decision-making and explain difficult situations.
- Ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to train employees of varying levels on technology, processes and procedures.
- Proficiency in English to ensure effective training and ongoing communications about safety and quality issues.
