Kitchen Equipment Technician - Preventive Maintenance & Repairs

Overview

Join our team as a Kitchen Mechanic and help us maintain the highest standards of quality and safety in our kitchens. As a Kitchen Mechanic, you will be responsible repairing commercial appliances such as ovens, fryers, grills, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, mixers, and ice machines.

• Diagnosing electrical, gas, plumbing, and mechanical problems in kitchen equipment
• Performing preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns
• Replacing worn or defective parts
• Inspecting equipment for safety and code compliance
• Reading technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams
• Testing equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation
• Maintaining service records and repair logs
• Responding to emergency repair calls quickly
• Installing new kitchen equipment and appliances
• Working with maintenance teams, chefs, and facility managers
• Following workplace safety procedures and handling tools properly

Skills commonly required:

• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
• Troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
• Familiarity with refrigeration and HVAC systems
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Physical stamina for lifting and standing
• Time‑management and communication skills

• Experience of 2‑5 years preferred in hotel, resort, commercial or institutional maintenance environment.
• HVAC or plumbing or electrical skills.
• Light carpentry and knowledge of paint and wallpaper.
• Certification in pool operation preferred.
• Meet minimum age requirements of jurisdiction.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Preventive maintenance background preferred.
• Read, write and understand English.
