Sr Environmental Specialist

Expected salary range: $113,400 to $126,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

Primary Purpose of Position

Responsible for providing independent technical, regulatory, program support and expertise on Constellation Nuclear Environmental compliance issues and projects in all relevant environmental areas. Serve as the program owner and administrator working with functional areas for assigned programs that directly affect the compliance status of the facility (e.g., Air Permits, DOT shipment of hazardous wastes, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste regulations, storage tanks, drinking water, Spill Prevention Control Countermeasure, SARA/EPRA, ISO/EMS, OSHA chemical safety, Hazmat).

Attend and present at leadership meetings. Work with industry trade groups and regulatory agencies to increase knowledge base and influence programs, projects and regulations. Develop relationships with stakeholders and be recognized by peers in at least one program area as a subject matter expert. Develop and provide environmental training to site personnel as needed. Interact with regulatory officials, provide tours and obtain approvals, permits, certifications and licenses related to Environmental projects, pollution control systems, or waste management activities.

Duties and Accountabilities
  • Provide technical guidance in assigned programs and regulatory support for all environmental program areas.
  • Maintain environmental contracts and represent the site during environmental audits.
  • React to and assist the Site and fleet in responding to emergent environmental issues.
  • Manage environmental projects including scope development, proposal solicitation, evaluation, funding, timeline, budget and deliverables.
  • Serve as a technical expert, participating in representing Constellation Nuclear in meetings with regulatory agencies, engineering consultants, legal counsel and serving on technical committees.
  • Review, evaluate and interpret new and existing environmental regulations and legislation pertaining to Constellation Nuclear operations and activities, updating procedures as necessary.
  • Support and perform evaluation of new technology, processes and programs, recommending specific actions for Constellation Nuclear operations.
  • Perform other job assignments and duties as directed, including emergency response, departmental coverage, call‑outs and support of outage activities in positions outside the department.
