A Dave’s Fresh Marketplace Seafood Clerk’s role will include providing a high level of customer service, setting up and maintaining attractive seafood displays. You will prepare/package seafood items for purchase per your customer’s order. This position ensures proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability, and answer questions from customers in a friendly and helpful manner. The Seafood Clerk keeps all seafood cases stocked and clean.
Minimum Qualifications- Prior seafood experience preferred, but not required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be comfortable with customer facing interactions
- Ensuring that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment – includes greeting and acknowledging customers, smiling, making eye contact, and all other components of customer service
- Maintaining an awareness of all seafood items on sale – I.E., Weekly Ads
- Ensure an attractive display of seafood by keeping cases and displays clean and well stocked, while continuously monitoring freshness and quality of product
- Keep products separated in case to prevent cross-contamination
- Take customer orders with accuracy: both by phone and in-person
- Prepare, package, weigh and price seafood department products for sale
- Maintain accurate department signage and pricing
- Handle live lobsters
- Follow department procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, and stocking product
- Ensures proper temperatures in all cooler/freezer cases
- Cutting gloves must be worn on non-cutting hand while cutting any product. This policy is mandatory
- Assists Seafood Manager as needed
- Notifies management of pricing discrepancies
- Awareness of food allergens; able to answer customer questions regarding food allergens
- Prepare recipes according to the Dave’s Fresh Marketplace standards
- Adhering to all Dave’s Fresh Marketplace policies, procedures, and practices including signing, pricing, and loss prevention
- Strict adherence to all Food Safety & Sanitation practices
- Follows all safety practices and procedures
- Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner
- Adherence to department-specific dress code policy
- Completes cleaning tasks as required
- Completes all logs as required
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Ability to solve practical problems
- Proper handling of equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, and hand trucks
- Ability to successfully work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to self-motive and stay on task without constant supervision
- Willingness to collaborate and work well in a team environment
- Ability to examine products for freshness
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized
- Reliable and dependable; able to work a flexible schedule – including weekends
- Must be able to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week
- Must be willing to participate in further job training – I.E., food safety training
- Ability to sell proactively, or upsell based on product similarity
- Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in the department
- Ability to learn basic cooking methods and recipes
- Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. constantly, 25-50 lbs. occasionally
