Summary
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Substitute teachers work on an on-call basis, performing the duties of, and implementing the instructional programs of the District in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The pay scale is based on either half or full day jobs.
OUR DISTRICT
The Sultan School District is one of the larger geographical school districts in the Puget Sound area, consisting of approximately 325 square miles. Sultan School District has approximately 2,200 students enrolled K-12. Students are currently served by two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and an alternative high school; and the Sno-Isle Skills Center, a cooperative vocational technical school.
OUR COMMUNITY
Located northeast of Seattle (seven miles east of Monroe) or about 20 minutes from the Woodinville area, Sultan is surrounded by a beautiful environmental setting. Our "backyard" is the scenic Skykomish River and Cascade Mountains. Sultan School District includes the community of Sultan, Startup, and Gold Bar. Students from Index attend Sultan High School.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Sultan School District uses professional learning communities to develop essential learnings, learning targets, proficiency rating scales, common formative assessments, summative assessments, etc.
* In the role of substitute classroom teacher, assist with the learning experience of the pupils in both curricular and co-curricular activities in relationship to the goals of the District.
* As a substitute teacher, provide guidance to pupils to promote their welfare and proper educational development.
* As a substitute teacher, assist in maintaining adequate and careful records as required by the Principal and the Superintendent or his/her designee.
* Substitute classroom teachers may be asked to participate in staff meetings and in-service training programs as are scheduled.
* A substitute classroom teacher may be asked to provide adequate reports to parents on the progress ad adjustments of pupils.
* In the absence of the regular classroom teacher the substitute shall provide for the care of school property and see that pupils use supplies, equipment, and utilities properly.
* As a substitute classroom teacher you may be asked to assist with co-curricular and other duties beyond regular classroom activities.
* Maintain cordial and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and participate in the business and activities of the facility.
* Administer the classroom and its programs, including discipline, and provide leadership for pupils in developing good citizenship.
* Adhere to the policies, operating procedures and practices as established by the Board, District and Building Principal.
* Participate and engage in professional learning communities (PLC).
* Utilize inclusive practices to support all learners.
* Differentiate instruction (product, process, content, practice) to meet the needs of all learners.
