Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance

Compensation: $19.00 to $22.00 per hour, based on experience and shift
Shifts Available FT Day shift
Position SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and comfort of healthcare and residential facilities. This role supports operational continuity and contributes to a safe and welcoming environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to unanticipated facility needs to minimize risk and service disruption.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of buildings, systems, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and applicable codes.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance across multiple disciplines.
- Electrical:
Lighting, outlets, switches, panels, medium voltage systems. - Plumbing:
Fixtures, valves, faucets, toilets, drains. - HVAC:
Filters, coils, compressors, VFDs. - Power Plant Systems:
Boilers, chillers, water softeners. - General Maintenance:
Carpentry, painting, workspace modifications, fire/smoke wall repairs. - Groundskeeping:
Snow removal, exterior building upkeep. - Patient Care Equipment:
Fire detection systems, pneumatic tube systems.
Maintain inventory and documentation of parts and repairs.
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend emergencies.
Attend Training Sessions Qualifications- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong critical thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Effective communication with coworkers, residents, families, and contractors
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform maintenance tasks
- Exposure to mechanical parts, chemicals, and electrical systems
- Occasional contact with blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases
- Interaction with residents, staff, and potentially combative individuals
