Wastewater/Water Treatment Facility Operator – Lead

Waupun Utilities is seeking an experienced high-level Operator to join our Water & Wastewater Treatment Facilities team as the Operator–Lead. This hands‑on leadership role is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of a state‑of‑the‑art Wastewater Treatment Facility featuring an Advanced Biological Nutrient Recovery (ABNR) upgrade and its Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Facility. The Operator–Lead provides day‑to‑day coordination, technical guidance, and support to other operators, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations.

This position also offers opportunities for continued professional growth and future advancement into higher‑level leadership roles within Waupun Utilities.

As the department’s working lead, the Operator–Lead provides hands‑on supervision and technical guidance to other operators while ensuring all facilities are managed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or technical training preferred)
• Minimum 4 years of operator experience, including 2 years at an Advanced facility
• Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and CDL
• Required Wisconsin Water and Wastewater Operator licenses (see full job description for details)
• Ability to relocate within 30 minutes of Waupun within one year of hire
