GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
:
The Pioneer Store Operations & Inventory Manager is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the Pioneer Store, including purchasing, inventory control, merchandise management, vendor correspondence, website inventory accuracy, and customer service. This position supports the overall efficiency of store operations while maintaining accurate inventory and a positive experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES:
- Process and track purchase orders, invoices, and related documentation for university departments and Pioneer Store operations.
- Coordinate and correspond with vendors regarding merchandise selection, ordering, receiving, and inventory needs.
- Order merchandise including sundries, greeting cards, gifts, and other store supplies for all campuses.
- Receive shipments from multiple vendors and enter merchandise into the inventory control system.
- Count, audit, reconcile, and maintain accurate inventory records for all West Texas Gifts and More merchandise.
- Oversee all West Texas Gifts and More merchandise and inventory operations, including inventory accuracy and product quantities.
- Maintain the appearance, organization, and merchandising standards of the sales floor.
- Assist at the front counter, registers, and main phone line, providing customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Assist students in person and by phone with merchandise issues.
- Process bookstore charges to student and employee accounts as needed.
- Provide gift wrapping and other customer service support as required.
- Supervise student workers, including training, scheduling, register support, and timesheet submission.
- Process daily paperwork and maintain accurate operational records.
- Assist with print jobs, ordering of copy paper, and other operational supplies.
- Crosstrain with and assist the Textbook Manager as needed.
- Assist with West Texas Gifts and More inventory counts and reconciliations as scheduled.
- Schedule includes occasional Saturday and evening work times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of the Pioneer Store.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
:
Associates Degree required
Experience and Knowledge
:
- Minimum of three (3) years of retail experience required, preferably in a bookstore or inventory-driven retail environment.
- Experience with purchasing, inventory control, merchandising, and customer service.
- Experience working with the public and minimal supervisory experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
:
- Must have a commitment to Christian higher education and be in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
- Strong customer service orientation with professional, courteous, and responsive communication skills.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, vendors, and external partners.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including professional phone and email etiquette.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
