Position Description

The Theatre Department invites applications for adjunct faculty to join our dynamic community. This is an ongoing recruitment effort to establish a robust pool of qualified candidates; applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as specific teaching needs arise throughout the academic year.

Theatre Department Mission: To engage the theatre classroom, studio, and stage as an interdisciplinary laboratory of profound human connection. As a community of theatre artists, we celebrate storytelling as a gift from God and a sacred calling that fosters communal belonging, cathartic healing, and shared joy.

We seek experienced scholar/artists to teach foundational courses in:

• Musical Theatre
• Directing/Dramaturgy
• Playwriting
• Performance
• Tech Theatre and Design

Qualifications

• Education: A minimum of a Master's Degree (M.A. or M.F.A.) or a Ph.D. in Theatre, Performance, or a closely related terminal degree.
• Experience: Demonstrated excellence in college/university-level teaching, preferably within a liberal arts theatre program. Professional experience in relevant theatre disciplines is highly valued.

In accordance with state laws, Act 73 of 2007, Act 153 of 2014, Act 168 (relating to the Child Protective Services Law), school employees of Eastern University who will have "direct contact with children" must complete the background check process prior to employment.
