Data Engineer
Role Description
We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our world-class Operations Engineering team to streamline the way we use lineside data as we scale to high-volume manufacturing. You will architect data analytics and custom dashboards that provide our team with the real-time visibility needed to make critical lineside decisions. You will sit at the intersection of data engineering and manufacturing, collaborating with both our Software and Manufacturing organizations.
By bridging the gap between raw process data and actionable manufacturing insights, you will ensure our production lines operate with precision and speed. Your work will directly empower our team to refine and stabilize the complex processes essential to delivering our multi-day energy storage technology to the global electric grid.
- Architect and own the data strategy for the Operations Engineering team, ensuring that high-volume manufacturing data is transformed into actionable intelligence for real-time lineside decision-making.
- Use statistical methods to provide insights that drive improvements in Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as output, yield, and quality.
- Lead the development of dashboards, reports, and visualizations that communicate complex data insights in a clear and actionable manner.
- Partner cross-functionally to integrate data from MES, SCADA, and cloud databases into a cohesive reporting ecosystem that supports executive-level and floor-level stakeholders.
- Ensure the integrity of the full data cycle, from lineside collection through storage, allowing our MES/ERP systems to provide a "single source of truth" for engineering teams.
- Recommend data-driven process changes, equipment upgrades, or operational adjustments that enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve overall production outcomes.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or production development environment.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other tools for data analysis, statistical analysis, and process optimization.
- Applied experience with production line data collection and analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication.
- Intellectual curiosity and the ability to thrive on the complexity of scaling a first-of-its-kind energy storage technology.
- Experience with Industrial IoT systems, including familiarity with SCADA, MES, and database architecture.
This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing. Relocation assistance is available.
