Retention Specialist - WHS Athletics

Position SummaryThe Retention Specialist will provide comprehensive and culturally competent support services to the Athletics Department designed to ensure the academic success of students as measured by meaningful academic engagement, college and career readiness, and graduation rates. The incumbent provides specific instructional and non‑instructional support to teachers, students and families.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategies to improve student retention and engagement within the school community.
- Assist Parents and Students with the registration process in Final Forms and communication to families.
- Monitor student progress and identify at‑risk students, providing support and resources to help them succeed.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administration to create a positive school culture and address student needs.
- Conduct regular outreach to students and families to gather feedback and address concerns.
- Assist in the development of communication materials and campaigns to promote school events and initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between students, families, and school staff to ensure a cohesive support system.
- Experience working in an educational setting, preferably with a focus on student support or retention.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of student development and engagement strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school culture.
- Familiarity with community resources and support services available to students and families.

180 - 219 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.
220 - 259 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.
260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.
Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.
