Starting Pay: $31.93 per hour

Join our team as a City Freight Driver! In this role, you will be responsible for the pick-up and delivery of freight, ensuring smooth operations between Service Centers and customers while supporting sales efforts.

• Safely operate tractor-trailer combinations and straight trucks.
• Conduct daily pre‑trip and safety inspections on your vehicle.
• Manage the hooking and unhooking of trailers and dollies.
• Handle freight using manual and motorized equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Secure freight within trailers using appropriate tools such as pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup and repair damaged freight as necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges and keep accurate records.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate any issues, including delays or equipment problems.
• Engage with customers to understand their needs and offer additional services.
• Exceed customer expectations through excellent service.
• Proactively request additional business and provide leads to sales teams.
• May perform chaining of vehicle tires when required.
• May assist as a road driver or dock employee when necessary.
• Abide by all relevant laws and company policies.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• Must have a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with required endorsements.
• Minimum of one year of driving experience required, or completion of Fed Ex Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Fulfill all Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). criteria.
• Ability to do basic math and communicate effectively in written and verbal forms.
• Physical ability to lift and carry freight weighing up to 100 pounds multiple times per week.
• Must be capable of sitting for extended periods and performing physical activities such as bending and climbing.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Drive in various weather conditions and on different road types.
• Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, and diesel fumes.
• May deal with hazardous materials in line with DOT regulations.
• Hours may vary based on operational needs.
• * Hazardous Materials endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of hire.

Pay ranges from $31.93 to $36.97 per hour, with additional mileage pay for linehaul duties. Compensation can reflect a variety of factors relevant to the position.
