Salary: £90-£100 per day

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

A welcoming and highly inclusive primary school in Westminster, West London is seeking an exceptional SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting a Year 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This role would suit a skilled SEN Learning Support Assistant who understands the importance of building trust, supporting emotional regulation and creating a safe, positive environment where children can thrive.

The Role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will provide dedicated support for a bright and engaging Year 2 pupil who experiences heightened emotions, anxiety and challenges with emotional regulation. Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team, you will play a key role in helping her access learning, build confidence and develop independence.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building a positive and consistent relationship with the pupil

• Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing throughout the school day

• Using calm, therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches

• Recognising triggers and implementing de-escalation strategies

• Supporting classroom learning and adapting activities when required

• Encouraging confidence, resilience and independence

• Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN professionals and parents

The ideal SEN Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Previous experience supporting children with ASD and SEMH needs

• Strong understanding of emotional regulation and behaviour support strategies

• Experience working within a primary school setting

• A calm, patient and nurturing approach

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• The ability to remain consistent and positive in challenging situations

• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children
