Responsibilities- Teach pupils in an integrated setting utilizing the course of study adopted by Westfield Public Schools and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulations.
- Work cooperatively with colleagues, students and/or parents on a regular basis as a liaison between the home and school whenever necessary.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Identify pupil needs, and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Supervise pupils in out of classroom activities during the assigned work day.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils' progress and interpret the school program.
- Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities provided by the district and self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
- Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Building Principal and/or the Superintendent of Schools.
Building Principal
The salary and terms of employment will be commensurate with the Westfield Public Schools Unit A contract. Salary placement will be based on information contained in the application as submitted.
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation.

Qualifications- Current and valid MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in Early Childhood (PreK‑2 or PreK‑3).
- Prior experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
Work is generally conducted within the school building. Ability to travel throughout the school building is necessary. Position involves sitting and the ability to travel from one place to another within the classroom. Work is light in nature with regular lifting up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, generally of desk and file drawers.
Frequent use of hands to operate keyboards and telephones and other office equipment. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
