Position:  Learning Coach - Physics or Chemistry
A Learning Coach is any educator hired by Dexter to be a regular faculty member. Our Learning Coaches are experienced, collaborative, committed to effective teaching and professional growth, love working with students inside and outside of the classroom, and engage in their work with dedication and humor.

Learning Coaches are expected to run a Dexter class in its entirety, although they will often work together in teaching teams on one or more classes. For this Learning Coach role, we are seeking an educator with a background in physics and/or Chemistry.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Livestream a class
Lead a Zoom class
Create course content, including tasks and assessments
Curate course documentation
Curate the course gradebook and quarterly student comments
Enact regular programmatic functions as a Dean of House
Attend regular faculty meetings
Meet regularly with their teaching teams
Provide small group instruction via Zoom
Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring as needed
Supervise or teach two Friday clubs (i.e, board games, creative writing, etc)
Teach an elective, which is often proposed by the Learning Coach
Provide age appropriate feedback to students regarding assignments and tasks
Evaluate student performance to gauge progress and academic development
Maintain Dexter standards of excellence in educator conduct
Be positive, encouraging role models and/or mentors for a wide range of students

Deans of House:

All Learning Coaches are expected to function as a Head of House, the duties of which should make up 10% of their time (roughly 4 hours per week). These duties include:
Responding to Dexter system alerts regarding student progress
Work with students to determine a student-led success plan
Report students who do not complete their success plans to the Dean of Students for more support.


Schedule:

This position is full-time with the expectation of 40 hrs/wk from Monday - Friday, 7:50am - 4pm.
This position may entail atypical hours that are not foreseen for tasks including curriculum development, task creation and training.

Compensation

$42,000/year paid at a rate of $3500/month

Position Requirements
Bachelor,   1 to 2 Years work experience
Qualifications - The ideal candidate will:

Have a Bachelors degree in either Chemistry or Physics, a related field, or equivalent job experience
Have experience tutoring or teaching a variety of science courses, particularly high school Physics or Chemistry.
Be a seasoned educator with experience responding to student needs
Experience running science labs and/or creating science curriculum a plus
Exhibit a passion for content knowledge and a range of effective teaching approaches
Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and challenging learning environment
Integrate technology in effective ways that enhances students’ learning experiences and growth
Be responsive to the social and emotional needs of students
Be able to work on campus in Wichita Falls, TX
Must be at least 21 years of age
