Apprentice Personnel - Wichita is currently sourcing a CNC Production Planner for a local manufacturer. This is a TEMP TO HIRE position.

Position Title: CNC Production Planner Job Code: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Pay Rate: $15 - $20 / hr DOE - Competitive Compensation and Benefits upon direct hire to the company
Job Summary: Translate CAD data into 2D nesting software. Create, package & deliver programs generated by the nesting software to the production floor. Identify issues received from Engineering to supervisor. Communicate issues received from Production to Engineering. In addition, will ensure that company operating, and cost efficiencies are optimized within the nests, and that quality and safety standards are achieved.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
K: Associates in Engineering and/or 1-2 years’ experience in an office setting.
Must have valid driver’s license.
S: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient computer skills, including Windows, Word and Excel, Internet, Solid Works and/or other drafting programs
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and results
Mechanical and technical skills and knowledge
A: Able to follow directions
Able to work with minimal supervision, both alone and in teams.
Results oriented while maintaining attention to detail
Able to effectively prioritize work based on demand
Ability and willingness to learn

Able to handle nonverbal symbolism (formulas, equations, graphs, etc.,)
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Upload CAD data into nesting software
2. Cross check supplied CAD data with sales order & Engineering drawings
3. Create nests & generate reports
4. Post the nests to the appropriate machine & deliver reports to production
5. Identify potential problems and recommend potential solutions
Position requires the ability to react, move about, install, remove and replace objects, exchange information verbally, detect and observe situations; drive an automobile; lift and move 50 pounds; work with others; requires the use of automobile, test equipment, computer and PBX system; near and far vision is required; works with mechanical and electrical devices; infrequently works with chemicals and toxins. Requires moderate amount of time sitting. Requires use of office equipment including telephone, personal computer, calculator, copy and fax machine. At times will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment when entering production areas and working near moving equipment and machinery. May be exposed to noise, dust, and cold/hot temperatures when working in production areas.
Typical Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed in an office environment with some time spent in production areas. Normal work hours would be Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Overtime may be required on weekdays, weeknights, or weekends.
Nature of Supervision Received:
Work is performed under the direction of the Planning Supervisor. This direction is to assist in prioritization of tasks, to review results of efforts and to offer guidance and feedback. This position is expected to work independently within authority limits and experience level. Incumbent must establish priorities and independently set daily objectives to meet deadlines and address urgent situations as they occur.
Judgment Exercised/Decisions Made:
Requires the ability to comprehend and evaluate facts and arrive at a decision consistent with company standards and procedures. Must be thorough and accurate in making selections, determining product specifications, and monitoring current performance. Decisions are required as to which procedures are applicable to a given situation and how best to obtain results consistent with company practice.
Responsible to develop cost effective systems that can be operated at a profit. Use of company capital resulting in expenditures to fix; poor quality product, could result in customers switching to another manufacturer. Substantial financial loss could occur if work specifications are incorrect which would lead to inefficient use of company capital resulting in expenditures to fix poor quality product to customers. Their technical responsibilities and support of our business is key to ongoing success and profitability.
